Galapagos… its location is not only the Pacific Ocean, but also a very special place in our hearts. Being in Galapagos is like living a dream that seems at times to be reality. It is a voyage into a land of innocents and truth for those fortunate and adventurous. This marvellous place is located in a privileged area on our earth. Here most of the birds and animals live in a world surrounded by peace and tranquillity. Galapagos is also a place where there is much to learn. We can learn about the immense capacity of different species to live in harmony and respect each other… or at least we hope we can learn such things.
Today we spent time getting to know another unique inhabitant of Galapagos: the giant tortoises. These large, ancient looking reptiles seem to have been transported to us straight from prehistoric times. Each of the islands we have visited this week, each of the creatures we have observed and learned about, has its own specific charm and attraction. They all are magical, mysterious and supernatural. Galapagos is a place where you almost wish to become lost and never found. One thinks here, of all places on earth, you just might be able to find eternal peace…
