Española Island
In the early hours of the morning, Captain Fausto Hinojosa dropped anchor off the westernmost point of this unique island, Pta Suarez. On land we were immediately greeted by colonies of marine iguanas and sea lions. Our guests arrived on shore for a new adventure on this island that is always full of surprises.
The trail took us all the way toward the Albatross colony where we saw a lot of them. This is the right time of year to watch them courting. And we found some with eggs all ready. There were blue-footed boobies courting as well and a couple of hawks very close to each other. The short walkers had the chance to see it all, from a different perspective. The blowhole was spectacular, and long hikers enjoyed it from land, while the short hikers saw it from the Zodiacs.
The afternoon was great too. Like always, my fascination is the underwater realm, specially these masters and top predators of the seas: sharks. We had the chance to get pretty close to white-tipped reef sharks!
