Santa Cruz Island
The Galapagos Islands are a fascinating nature destination that surpass even the most demanding expectations. If I wish to relate details of each one of the activities we did today, I think I will need several pages. Can you imagine the array of new feelings and inspiration all these events have imprinted in the minds of our guests this week? In simple words, we have all agreed that we had a terrific day! Galapagos giant tortoises in the wild, intriguing lava tunnels and fascinating conservation stories were some of the highlights.
The Galapagos Islands are a genuine jewel among the national parks and protected areas of Ecuador. This archipelago is home to one of the most famous animal species in the whole world: the Galapagos giant tortoises. These gentle giants are the namesake of the archipelago and are one of the most emblematic animals of my country. It is certainly rewarding to observe how fascinated our visitors are while watching giant tortoises. It is no less touching to experience how people visiting us from all over the world, become connected with our efforts to preserve this paradise. There are many young guests on board Polaris this week. As a biologist and conservationist, it’s a real pleasure to see how captivated and interested they’ve become while exploring these magical islands.
