Floreana Island
Today we had a great time visiting Floreana Island, which is one of the inhabited islands of this archipelago. We started early this morning riding toward the so-called Post Office Bay. We combined this outing with a panga ride along a beautiful sea lion nursery.
During breakfast our Captain, Marcelo Rojas, weighed anchor and took us to Champion Islet. This is one of the best spots for water activities in the Galapagos, so we had a fantastic experience exploring the underwater ecosystem. We offered snorkeling activities as well as the glass bottom boat.
This afternoon was special, too. We saw many flamingoes in the brackish lagoon at Punta Cormorant, along with white-cheeked pintail ducks and common stilts. As it was very low tide, we were able to enjoy wide beaches, one with green, inorganic sand at the landing site, and one with fine, white sand of organic origin. Floreana was at its best today!
