Fernandina and Isabela Islands

A new month has just begun! In my mind, I imagine it will be filled with more adventures and exciting moments to live and to share. A few minutes ago, a couple who are here onboard the Polaris asked me if we always see as much as we have seen in the past few days. I answered them with a big smile of approval, and slowly nodded my head. The abundance of wildlife, the beauty of the landscapes, and the fascinating underwater world make the Galapagos Archipelago one of the few places on Earth where we can assure you that, week after week, we will have a great time. Encounters, both little and big, will fulfill even the most demanding expectations. Both in its simplicity and its greatness, there are clues to help one enjoy these islands to the maximum.

On one voyage after another something spectacular occurs. Sometimes we can’t help feeling that we are hit by a perpetual “lucky strike” which allows us to witness unforgettable encounters. And on the many occasions that I have been asked, “were we lucky?”, my answer is always an emphatic: “yes!” Yes, because the simple fact that we are visiting these islands means that we are lucky.

Last year, less than seventy thousand visitors came to the Galapagos Islands. To some people this may sound like a lot of people, but if for a moment you consider the whole world’s population, then you can appreciate that it is a real privilege for me and for all our visitors to be in this paradise. While experiencing the special moments and wonderful encounters here in Galapagos, you come to realize that a bit of heaven can be found right here on Earth!
