Isabela and Fernandina Islands
As we approached Punta Vicente Roca, you could see the volcanic cliffs dropping from the clouds. It was a picturesque moment, one I will never forget. As I sat in my kayak, I thought about the uniqueness of these islands. I looked up and saw volcanoes and different layers of earth, I looked down and was surrounded by sea turtles and sea lions.
When I departed for Punta Espinosa, I was overwhelmed by the ropy lava and flightless cormorants. The blue footed boobies are numerous and provide such a delightful show of diving. They seem to co-exist with the other birds, memories that I have of them will last forever. Cruising through the inlet, I witnessed penguins and lava herons in their natural habitat. There is no better place than this to experience such a preserved, natural environment. Each day I am amazed by new sights and sounds. I lay in bed every night wondering what tomorrow will bring and how it won’t be possible to top today. The Galapagos Islands seem untouched by people and the animals remain unaffected by constant viewing.
