Bartolome & Santiago Islands
This day is always difficult for us, because it is not just the end of a trip but also the end of a friendship with nice groups of people. These two islands that we were visiting today were at their best. The geology of Bartolome is so remarkable that it is easy to feel transported to another planet. The amount of wildlife was plentiful, and the inter-action was memorable. However, the water activities were spectacular, as both places morning and afternoon provided experiences of all levels. The species that were found in this magical underwater world were full of vivid coloration. We saw sharks, penguins, sea lions, many parrot fish, and the highlight of all was a blue-footed booby diving in front of our eyes while we were looking at a school of black striped salema.
Although the Galápagos is considered one of the most famous archipelagos, it does not become real until you experience it on your own and gain a full understanding of its unique ecosystem.
