Isabela and Fernandina Islands
It was a beautiful day. It started with the view of a fabulous rock, Roca Redonda, covered by hundreds of sea birds: Galápagos shearwaters, tropic birds, Nazca Boobies and storm petrels. Afterwards, right before crossing the Equator, we encountered striped dolphins, and it was marvellous.
King Neptune himself came on board to celebrate the crossing and to baptize our guests as Galápagos shellbacks. The Zodiac ride along Punta Vicente Roca brought us closer to Galápagos penguins, flightless cormorants, green sea turtles and the odd looking and famous fish, the Mola mola.
Fernandina was great. Calm seas, high tide and lots of species to observe. A couple of hawks mated in front of our eyes, while baby sea lions played at the beach and flightless cormorants gave presents to their mates.
I love the western realm of the Galápagos.
