Bartolome & Santiago Islands

We started our day with a bit of rain, but Bartolome looked beautiful anyway. The before breakfast walk took us to the top of the island, where we enjoyed the best view in the Galapagos, made famous by most brochures and documentaries.

After breakfast we landed on a crescent beach, gold in color, with calm waters and a few penguins that joined us in the snorkelling outing.

The afternoon was spent at Puerto Egas, on Santiago, our adopted island. A lovely place for a last walk. We saw sea lions and fur sea lions; marine iguanas enjoyed the sun on the lava fields, yellows warblers on the bushes and a few new species of shore birds. A few people had been in the water, enjoying the surf, or sunbathing on the black beach.

While on board we celebrated our week sharing comments of our highlights, with a toast from our captain, with many smiles. We’ll keep this place in our hearts forever!
