Bartolome & Santiago Islands

As human beings, we like to observe nature in its natural splendor, and it is even better when there is a display of colors, not just within the landscapes but also among the species (flora and fauna) that we can see in the area. Today’s visit gave us the magical time of having all of the above mentioned, and it was the southern beach of Bartolome island where this interaction between people and the environment took place. This was nothing complex, but simply the best.

Calm blue water where sharks were swimming close to the shoreline, blue-footed boobies diving for Salemas, ghost crabs in a feeding frenzy producing a lot of pellets, pelicans nesting on the mangroves, a couple of hawks were flying above our heads and some shore birds were searching for their food supply along the beach. I have to emphasize that the array of habitats and ecological niches, like the one that we were experiencing today, are all over the archipelago - and this week it has been one of the best experiences in the ongoing account of these dynamics.
