Cerro Dragon & Sombrero Chino

We are repositioned at the northern part of Santa Cruz Island, here we have an impressive visitor site we named Cerro Dragon or Dragon Hill because of land iguanas. Here we have the opportunity to enjoy them in their natural state.

Soon after our landing we were greeted by a flying flamingo which placed a touch of blush to a overcast day as an inversion layer settled down for a garúa. A garúa is a gentle mist which is present rarely at this time of the year; this mist is always welcome among plants and animals in this arrid region. Cacti, iguanas and lava rocks make this site a surreal realm.

After our water activities, our captain sails to Sombrero Chino while we have an impressive talk in the lounge by Kenneth & Judith Yalowitz.

Water activities of all kinds from snorkeling to kayaks, from a panga driving lessons to a simple comfortable towel on the beach. All forms to maximize our expedition.

Today our guests saw penguins and iguanas on the rocks and underwater as some were grazing on algae or fish, I am not even mentioning the sharks or fish; all this surrounded by lava rocks, white sand clear waters.

Back on board we share our exiting day and had our briefing for tomorrow which is our last day in this wonderful world.

We also were offered a unique opportunity to help this ecosystem; to become a “friend of the Galápagos” a special proposal which could only be taken aboard. Soon after our video chronicle from which we share laughter and memories of our expedition, we gather for a barbequed dinner.

Our expedition is over the pinnacle, but tomorrow promises to be a different and magnificent day.
