LONESOME GEORGE VOTED MOST ELIGIBLE TORTOISE BACHELOR IN THE WORLD!

United Tortoise Press International – In an unprecedented frenzy of photography by the Lindblad wildlife paparazzi, Galápagos tortoise “Lonesome George” was today unanimously voted the world’s most eligible bachelor tortoise. Several competitors showed up to pose for the contest, but in the end it was “Lonesome George” who literally stole the show.

The judges for this competition had flown to the Galápagos Islands from places as far away as Taiwan, Canada, Panama, the United States, and Mexico to be a part of this historic event. As literally thousands of images were being taken of all entrants here at the Charles Darwin Research Station on Santa Cruz Island, the clear winner rose head and carapace above the rest of the competitors.

“It really came down to that beautiful saddleback shell that George carries,” one of the judges said (with the promise that he would remain anonymous). As the only surviving tortoise of Pinta Island in the northern part of the Galápagos, George is truly one of a kind. To prove his eligibility there is even a $10,000 reward to any person who can find George a female tortoise from the same species.

When asked to comment George refused to tell this reporter just how old he was, or exactly how long he had been a bachelor. With his long neck and legs, exceptionally proportioned tail, impeccable table manners, and dry sense of humor George is certainly one HOT eligible bachelor!

Listen up all you Pinta Island ladies; “Lonesome George” would be one heck of a catch. He lives in his own private Santa Cruz Island mansion (including wading pool). He has a five star chef serving up only the freshest island produce. Throw in the $10,000 reward along with the love and adoration of people from around the world, and you would have to agree; “Lonesome George” would surely make any of you a happy tortoise mate.
