Each visit to Española Island is different. Each excursion is fresh with discovery and lit with the excitement of witnessing a profusion of wildlife at every turn. Along the two beaches, which are next to the landing site, you can see mockingbirds, warbler finches, American oystercatchers, marine iguanas, and sea lions. The amount of wildlife found in this area accounts for it being considered one of the most exciting spots in the archipelago. The visitor's site at Punta Suarez is an unspoiled and undeniably beautiful section of Española Island.
This morning, as if in testimony to the natural attractiveness of Punta Suarez, we watched two giant bull sea lions fight. Each was trying to gain possession of this territory. If one does not manage to scare off his opponent, they start pushing and biting each other until the loser is chased well away from the area.. This aggressive and noisy behavior made quite an impression on those who were visiting the island.
