Santa Cruz Island

It is spring break in the United States, and many families take the opportunity to migrate south, to our fantastic hot Galapagos, escaping the cold winters of the northern hemisphere. And it has been really warm down here! This is the best season of the year for snorkeling and swimming.

Today, while in the highlands of Santa Cruz, we did not miss our chance for going in the water, specially our smaller guests. They jumped in and spent a long time playing in the wet before lunch at Anita's farm.

The swimming pool is surrounded by papaya and grape fruit trees; colorful hibiscus and "fire cracker" plants decorate the paths in this wonderful homestead that receives us once a week for our "endemic" lunch.

Wednesday is the day we make contact with the people from the islands. Friendly and kind, they are always attentive and efficient. The bus drivers, the workers at the Charles Darwin Research Center, the man of the minivan, people at the restaurant, at the post office and those who work in the different shops, they are all and always willing to provide the best service and smile, adding to the Galapagos experience a bit of human touch and warmth.
