Bartolome Island
Today is our last full day in the Galápagos Islands and it certainly was a perfect ending – more than what I could wish for…
The early morning outing to the summit of the island of Bartolome showed us the impressive view from the top. All the way along the wind blew and it seemed as though the different geological formations were chanting to us about their past, their very formation. The beauty of the landscapes was breathtaking (this could in part have been due to the 375 steps we were climbing at 6:30 in the morning!) In any case, it left us all with a great sense of gratitude towards what we have, not only in front of our eyes but during our whole lives. I could see the faces of people looking at each other totally impressed by the pinnacle rock, standing erect and proud in the far distance. I was wishing in that moment to be air, to be something that could enter peoples’ minds and read them. I could bet not a single one of our guests had an unhappy thought, and I wanted to be part of it, part of those happy thoughts that everybody had. Then I realized I was - no, not air! - I was part of their happy thoughts!
In the future, whether alone or with friends, whenever they are telling about their experience or simply remembering it… I will be a happy thought in everyone’s minds and that brought up a huge smile to my face and to my heart and that it is more than I could wish for… Thanks everyone!
