Floreana

As the first rays of sun shine, our adventurers aboard the M.S. Polaris make their way to the reception to start an early adventure. This time we are at the anchorage site of the beautiful and mysterious Floreana Island. A group of adventurers leave at six thirty in the morning to visit the very traditional Post Office Barrel! With post cards in hand, off they go to participate in one of the oldest traditions Galápagos has, that is taking post cards from the Barrel and hand delivering them to whichever destination they may have and leaving some of theirs there too. After, we all enjoy a nice Zodiac ride around some islets where we have the first sighting of penguins. We see blue-footed boobies, pelicans and a more or less large colony of sea lions in a paradisiacal beach, a place where I would personally like to live if I were a sea lion! After this adventure we return to the Polaris for some breakfast.

We are underway now, and we all have a chance to either go around Champion Islet on the glass bottom boat or deep water snorkeling. One of the most exciting mornings, since we all get to see and play with our quickly made best friends, the Galápagos sea lions.

In the afternoon, we have a few options too, a deep water snorkeling session or go to the beach. Most of the kids decided to go to the beach, and so started the playing and sand castle building! After a nice time playing and relaxing, we begin a walk to one of the largest flamingo lagoons in the Galápagos where we find quite a few of them. Some of them are feeding, some of them are flying, and they decided to put on a show for us. At the end of the walk, we arrive to this beautiful white sandy beach where marine turtles choose to nest and we can still see some of the marks from their nests. As we head back, we enjoy a wonderful sunset, this being a perfect closure for a perfect day.
