Espanola Island

I have been away from the Galápagos for the last two months, and I must admit that I was missing my Islands! I was on vacation, visiting friends and doing regular stuff that we usually don’t do when we are navigating around the archipelago. It was very refreshing to encounter everything just the way I left it! The ocean has still the most beautiful turquoise-colored waters and the animals are just as fearless to humans as when I left the islands. As I was taking pictures at the island of Espanola, I couldn’t help but believe that the animals recognized me and started to pose for the pictures. We had a little bit of an overcast day, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem with any of the wildlife found in this beautiful area. Despite the fact that the vegetation looks dryer, that is the natural looks of the islands during this time of the year. We are in the middle of the dry season and with that, a lot of animals and plants struggle for fresh water. The cool morning breeze coming from the south was blowing in our faces, giving us goose bumps as we walked along the colonies of sea lions at the beach.

By the end of the trail, we encountered the famous waved Albatross flying along the cliff and disappearing at the distance like a ghost.

After such an amazing day, it is hard to think what’s coming next, but I assure you…this is just the beginning of the path…
