Bartolome Island

Early in the morning, our eager guests were already up and climbing the three hundred and seventy six steps to the summit of Bartolome.

The sky had a strange hue, sort of purple-bluish, advising us that the weather was about to change. The cloudy days that were covering the Galápagos are almost over, and with the new season, hot and sunny days would be more common. Right now it feels like spring, however we don’t have that season here in here in the Islands, but the fresh and soft ocean breeze is always welcome.

Bartolome without a doubt is one of the best places in the Galápagos. The serene and quite impressing view from the summit of its hill is something that would be very hard to forget.

The snorkeling here was a very delightful experience. Ninety percent of the time we had clear and crystal waters which made these spots really special.

This Island is very close to Santiago, where a large population of Galápagos hawks can be found. They are usually flying over people’s heads, searching for a prey to hunt.

This is by the way a species of bird that always offers a good chance for an excellent photograph, since its fearlessness make it very accessible. Today’s picture shows one of those incredible encounters with a young and curious Galápagos Hawk.
