Floreana Island

Today we spent our day on the most historical island of the archipelago. Our day began on Post Office Bay and “La Loberia,” a place where many species of animals were spotted. We found lots of ruddy turn stones, semi palmated plovers, whimbrels, Pacific green sea turtlesm, and Galápagos marine iguanas.

During our visit to the barrel, we found many letters and postcards, and a few of our guests took some of those to hand deliver them, as the whalers and sailors did more than 200 years ago.

After breakfast, we went to snorkel around Champion Islet and sea lions were particularly friendly and playful. Thousands of fish were “swarming” around us, and those who went on the glass bottom boat had a lot of fun observing the underwater world without getting wet.

During the afternoon outing, Greater flamingoes were superb, feeding practically at our feet, their colors were amazingly vivid. Our walk took us to the other side of the island to the “Flour beach” where the turquoise blue waters are sense stimulating.

The end of the day showed us a spectacular sunset and once aboard we enjoyed the recaps and the many experiences of today.
