Wondering what our first Alaskan day would have in store,
Even before breakfast we scanned the low-tide shore.
Making its way among seaweed, barnacles, and rocks, an
Inquisitive brown bear, along with eagles and gull flocks,
Scanned a salmon stream, the bear chasing down a catch
Sending us downstairs with appetites to match.
Luckily we gulped our breakfasts down in record time
In haste we returned to the bow, looking for a burbling sign.
Not long we waited for humpbacks to surface through their bubblenet
Dancing up again and down, their coordination was perfect.
Alas we had to go downstairs for it was time again to eat
But before we did one animal right in front of us full breached.
Ultimately we planned an excursion for the shore but we
Revised the plan when the scout boat spotted bears ashore galore.
Brown bears again this time our find was two mothers and their young
And safely ashore we went while six bears fished and romped in fun.
Cameras clicked while the bears were joined with yet another family
Kindly gracing us with nine animals for an overwhelming finale.
