Sea of Cortez
As the sun set on a perfect day, a couple of playful bottlenose dolphins take a final leap before dark. Our day began off of False Cape, just north of Cabo San Lucas. Dolphins accompanied us all the way into Cabo’s bustling harbor. Many of our guests took Zodiacs to snorkel at Pelican Rocks, where they found the beautiful tropical fish known as the Moorish Idol, schooling along the rocks. Others ventured outside the city for a hike exploring the southern desert flora and birds. And yes, still others plied Cabo’s many shops and markets.
Afternoon found us sailing north into the Sea of Cortez over Gorda Banks. Here vigilant whale watchers spotted humpback whales and several pods of acrobatic dolphins. The sea was mirror smooth for our traverse which omens well for the days ahead as we continue to steam north to explore the exotic desert islands of the Sea of Cortez.
