Isla Danzante
The brilliant colors of sunrise found most of the Cruising Club of America fleet securely anchored in Honeymoon Cove on the protected west side of Isla Danzante (Several CCA boats are pictured here). The backdrop for this stunning Sonoran desert scene was the rugged purple and red layers of volcanic ash that form the Sierra de la Giganta range on the Baja California Peninsula. Around the anchorage, we saw more of the same colorful rocks dotted by the deep greens of large cardon and organ pipe cactus.
CCA adventurers from the Sea Bird thoroughly enjoyed a Zodiac cruise after breakfast, as well as opportunities to talk about the unique adaptations of desert plants, the special geologic story of the Baja California peninsula, and to observe the seabirds above and some interesting fishes below. The afternoon passed pleasantly and swiftly with a kayaking expedition about the harbor and a chance to visit with old friends as well as another great snorkel outing.
