Today would be our last full day aboard the Sea Bird cruising the Vermillion Sea in search of new adventures and old friends. The past week has been an enjoyable one with sights of great cliffs of stone, wonderful birds, incredible marine mammals and memorable conversations with many an old salt.

The flotilla left Isla San Francisco and headed south. Some boats stopped at Los Islotes where we were yesterday, others made their way to Calita Partida which is the eroded bay that separates Partida Norte from Espiritu Santo (Holy Spirit Island). The Sea Bird searched the waters west of Espiritu Santo for more marine mammals, then had another presentation by one of the naturalists, Stewart Aitchison, on the geology of the Baja California peninsula. This talk gave us some insight into the incredible land forms that we have witnessed on our voyage in the Sea of Cortez.

After lunch the ship entered Calita Partida where the snorkeling boat was put down and many of us enjoyed one last swim or snorkel from the Zodiacs. A couple of Zodiac cruises were also done near the fish camp and other boats in the protected bay.

Our last dinner aboard was very nice and hosted by the Captain. We will take that memory plus many others with us from the Sea Bird part of our journey.
