A green sunrise?
Roaring sealions?
Blowing whales?
And then a monster from the deep?
What more could stimulate curiosity and wonderment?,br>Iridescent violet, blue and pink rippled along the silver scales. A dorsal fin, reddish orange in color, ran from head to tail, if that stub at the end of the flattened thirteen foot long body could be called a tail. Anterior rays feathered back from the fin, giant ornaments balanced by two similar structures below the head. The mouth, unreal with its gelatinous texture, angled upward in a permanent pucker seemingly ready to vacuum in any organism floating above. The eye still stared back at us. The body trembled with the last spasm of life. An oar fish, seldom seen by the terrestrial world, came to rest on the beach at our feet as the waves receded with the tide. Every day brings new surprises!
