We had a smooth run south through the Straits of Georgia during the night. Around wakeup we were on approach to Porlier Pass which is one of the many gateways to the Gulf Islands of British Columbia. It was a pretty run through the intimate channels of this area and a fine way to bid farewell to Canada.
Mid morning we crossed back into the U.S. and entered into Friday Harbor, San Juan Islands just before lunch. Labor Day had come and gone but there was still a great amount of coming and going in the harbor. The afternoon was spent wandering in town and then we were underway again to explore more of the San Juan Islands. By cocktail hour we were anchored up in Lopez Sound for a quiet farewell dinner,, or so we thought. Have you ever worn rubber boots to a cocktail party?
