Chatham Strait & Lake Eva

Oh Alaska, it's blast. This place is superb, the locale is the best.
How to outdo yesterday, it wouldn't be easy, what a hard test.

We had a plan, to outdo the others,
The morning in search of marine mammals; whales or maybe sea otters.

After breakfast, came a call from the bow.
Orcas, aka killer whales, grab a camera, wow!

We watched as the largest dolphin came up and went back down.
After a while, we had to get going, please do not frown.

A presentation about salmon, and their amazing life history.
Returning from ocean to nourish bears, eagles and tree.

Humpbacks were spotted, not one, or two
A large group of quite more than a few.

They surfaced to breathe, and we watched and anticipated.
Oh, look there a breach; I am so glad I waited.

They all disappeared, then came up with mouths wide open,
they surfaced together, to grab as much food as could be taken.

Kayaks were lowered for a paddle on the sea,
In the lagoon, and up to the waterfall, a perfect place to be.

Along the trail to Lake Eva, though the rainforest we walk
Stop at look at interesting plants, or to hear the naturalist talk.

A great day, a fantastic day, anything but fine;

we came back aboard Sea Lion, for cocktails and wine.

Who would have thought it would be such a great day,
I can't wait for another, tomorrow we'll be in Glacier Bay!

Oh Alaska, it is a blast. This place is wonderful, the locale is the best.
How to outdo today, it wouldn't be easy, it would be a hard test.
