Astoria, Oregon
This morning we went to Astoria and enjoyed a visit to the Columbia River Maritime Museum. From there we went to Fort Clatsop to see where Lewis and Clark spent the winter of 1805. The weather today was not anything like what the Corps had during their stay in this region. We had clear but cool skies and very little wind. After lunch some of us decided to go out to the beach and view the shipwreck of the Peter Iredale. When we arrived the Coast Guard was doing some diver rescue training. The Coast Guard has a large facility on the Washington side of the Columbia River near Cape Disappointment.
