This morning we left the Sea Lion in The Dalles and spent the morning ashore. Some chose a ride on the Mt. Hood scenic railroad while others opted for a visit to the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center. The Sea Lion was waiting for us in Hood River, just in time for lunch. We immediately got underway for an afternoon cruise through the dramatic Columbia River Gorge. The blustery fall weather added to the drama and left no doubt about why The Gorge has been dubbed the "windsurfing capital of the world".
Standing out on the bow deck as the Sea Lion enters the navigation lock at Bonneville Dam, we had a commanding view of the free-flowing Columbia River below us. Although the weather was a little chilly, the grandeur of The Gorge was accentuated by the autumn colors, clouds and sun and countless rainbows
