Belize City
Today the ship is moored at what is known as the “Deep Water Dock”, outside Belize City proper. Our guests have not yet arrived, and the insides and outside of the Sea Voyager are getting a thorough cleaning in preparation for our up-coming trip down through Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. What I found absolutely delightful today, however, was the presence of two manatees that hung around the ship and seemed to be foraging between the pilings. Possibly grazing on the algae that grows abundantly on these tall columns. It turned out to be one of the best views of a manatee I’ve seen, since we had the height of the upper decks and dock to see down into the water, which otherwise is rather silt-laden in this area Wow! Now, if only they would do this when everyone else is watching, too.
