Lighthouse Cay, Belize

Magnificent frigatebirds are clepto-piratical
Ged, our fearless leader, unflappable--
A little weather, just makes the adventure better.

Lighthouse Cay is an offshore atoll
Where seeing red-footed boobie birds is no trouble

You can climb a tower for an eye-to-eye view
Available to a chosen few.

Below in the palm jungle iguanas lounge
while hermit crabs scuttle.
And we take to the blue waters with masks and snorkel.

To float above underwater gardens of corals and fans
Where multihued fishes drift above white sands.

Suspended in a salty Caribbean womb
Cares float away like so much jetsam
