Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica
Today, we continued our voyage aboard the Sea Voyager visiting one of the most special places in this beautiful country, the Osa Peninsula.
As the sun rose on the horizon the morning started with a stretching class on the Sun Deck, a delicious breakfast and then we went to explore the area. Caletas was our first stop of the day, a privately owned area dedicated to conservation, a perfect example of why Costa Rica is renowned worldwide when conservation is the topic. There we were able to explore the guarded treasures of the tropical rainforest. Some went hiking, and others birding. A large group decided to go horseback riding. Each group got to experience close encounters with the hiding treasures of the tropical rainforest, the shape and length of a monkey ladder vine, the business of leaf cutting ants on a trail or a group of birds looking for food.
The afternoon takes us to one of the wonders of this region, Corcovado National Park. Being one of the largest national parks in Costa Rica, its biodiversity is breathtaking, no matter if you went on a walk to a waterfall or a walk around the coast, the memories of this day will remain forever. Mantled howler monkeys, Central American spider monkeys and a troop of white-throated capuchin monkeys were closely followed by a double-toothed kite as they all moved trough the forest looking for a meal.
The tropical rainforest is complex, beautiful and full of life. What a fantastic day full of surprises.
