Majestic would be the right term to describe our day in the Osa Peninsula. As a swift sunrise appeared over the forest-covered mountain ranges, which come down to kiss the cool Pacific waters, we knew that another incredible experience lay ahead. With the usual healthy breakfast, we energized to begin exploring this amazing region of our planet. Caletas beach received us with smooth waters, making the wet landing comfortable. As the clouds rolled back enabling our master star to shine, the lushness of the rainforest embraced us. Some of the adventurers went horseback riding to the always gorgeous Rio Claro. On their way coatis and white-throated capuchin monkeys jumped around in the greenery. Flowers from the first deciduous trees like Bombacopsis sessilis, filled the ground around us. Macaws could also be heard squawking overhead.
Back on board and after a great lunch we arrived at Corcovado National Park. Always received by the friendly faces of the rangers, we prepared ourselves, as an adventure is for sure given by this ecosystem. Just entering into the forest on the San Pedrillo River, a big American crocodile was spotted sun bathing on the river’s sand bank. As we were there, wild cycadas filled the forest with a deafening sound; a constant reminder that summer has arrived. On the other side of the river our explorers were in another amazing excursion. White lipped peccaries and great curassows were spotted bringing a mix of agitation and excitement to the hearts. Majestic should be the term to describe our day immersed in Corcovado’s mystical palace. Our souls will always rejoice being part of this great world!
