Golfo Dulce, Casa Orquideas
After many hours of sailing we finally arrived to Costa Rica, a unique country rich in both nature and wildlife. The Sea Voyager entered Golfo Dulce where we all had an early morning disembarking to Casa Orquideas (Home of the Orchids). This garden delighted us all with its beautiful tropical garden plants, many species of orchids, Palm trees, flowers, and great birding!
The calm beach of Casa Orquideas gave us a relaxing opportunity to bathe and to swim back to the ship, which of course gave us a good reason to enjoy a large and delicious lunch onboard.
After a short navigation, our next stop was at the entrance of Rio Rincon. This location is dominated by mangrove trees, tropical forest and it is also very rich in human culture. The option to walk along the main road gave us fabulous sightings of many different species of land birds, seabirds, sloths, toucans, and much more. We also organized a optional cruise along the river with our Zodiacs. The mangrove forest up Rincon River filled our expectations of wildlife. Kayaking at the river was also a very nice combination of a workout and observation of the natural surroundings.
Being the first day in Costa Rica, the experiences so far were just great!
