Isla Otoque, Isla Bona & Iguana Island
Having been given the opportunity to sleep in, many of us take advantage by allowing ourselves the leisure to linger, in the cradling comfort of the gently rocking Sea Voyager. The night’s rest leaves us feeling rejuvenated and excited to explore, by Zodiac, the beautiful islands of Bona and Otoque. We are captivated by the view of this destination, as we look ahead to the waves crashing upon the rocks
Our Zodiac cruise offers us a wonderful opportunity to observe the many species of birds inhabiting this nutrient-rich land. We take full advantage of photographing these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat, while enjoying the sheer pleasure of being close to the water. Once on board we re-energize or bodies by participating in a stretch class on the sun deck and preparing for the afternoon’s activities. Some of us take advantage of the opportunity to have a Wellness Treatment and allow ourselves to be completely submerged in the tropical experience.
We enjoy the afternoon’s excursion to Iguana Island, and partake in a variety of activities of our choosing. Many of us enjoy the tropical water for a refreshing swim, while others are mesmerized with the underwater world while engaged in snorkeling. For those of us walking along the beach, we observe the abundant inhabitants of hermit crabs carrying, their carefully selected homes, upon their backs.
Prior to beginning our guided walk, we stop for a moment at the trail’s entrance, to listen to these busy creatures scurrying through the leaves. Closing our eyes and listening, we compare this sound to the sound of teeming rain. Ducking under the trellises that nature has provided, we notice many termite nests and an occasional Iguana crossing our path. Once we reach our destination we stop to observe, with clear view, the mating and nesting behaviors of the magnificent frigate birds. In a testimony to his superiority, the male frigate displays his crimson-colored gular pouch in hope of attracting a mate.
Leaving this mating ground, we continue along the path to a scenic overlook. The majestic sea crashes on the shore below, while the frigate birds gracefully soar above. We are soothed by this vision of great beauty.
