Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica

Today we had an early start to explore the spectacular Rain Forest of Corcovado National Park located on the south Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Four different groups departed, each group accompanied by a Naturalist. All groups filled with the hope of finding the monkeys and colorful birds that make this place famous. As is always possible with wildlife, some did get to see three of the four species of monkey present in this area of the park, some did not see any monkeys, but at least saw other kinds of wildlife. Although wildlife is unpredictable, everybody did see the amazing giant trees that grow in this forest, and many enjoyed a dip on one of the many natural pools of the rivers in the park.

After our morning outing we sailed a shore distance to Caletas beach were our crew was already waiting with a delicious barbeque lunch ashore. After lunch, everybody took a well-deserved rest under the shade of the palm trees, in the company of Scarlet macaws that flew noisily over our heads.

Later on in the afternoon the activity began, while some chose to take a swim in the warm ocean water, others took a horse back riding tour of the coast, and still others chose to do one last hike into the Rain Forest. The day ended back on board watching the sunset that miraculously coincided with the cocktail hour.
