Golfo Dulce, Costa Rica

As the sun rose this morning, we could appreciate the beautiful coast in Costa Rica for the first time on this trip. We enjoyed a delightful breakfast with an amazing view of the palm trees in a beach of turquoise color waters at Golfito.

Early during the morning we approached “Casa Orquideas” where we got the chance to see all kinds of plants and birds such as scarlet macaws, purple-crowned fairies, golden-hooded tanagers, red-legged honeycreepers, and many other species with the sound of howler monkeys in the back.

After a few hours of birdwatching, everybody felt hungry and a good meal kept us going as we were on the way to the very end of Golfo Dulce, near a small village and a river called Rincon. A short nap was almost required after such a wonderful choice of food. Later that afternoon, everybody was getting on the Zodiacs to go kayaking, trekking or birdwatching on Rincon’s river. We were rewarded with the sight of orange-chinned parakeet’s, chestnut-mandibled toucans, roseate spoonbills and thick-billed euphonies among all the species identified by our great naturalists.

At sunset everybody enjoyed a typical Costa Rican Buffet while our first day in this incredible paradise was going away.
