Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica
Right after the wake up call, we met for breakfast in the dinning room. While eating banana pancakes, we commented which of the three trails we where going to take. Knowing that each one would offer a delightful morning hike, we went ashore where our guides were waiting for us to take us into the Corcovado National Park, one of the largest and wildest reserve areas of Costa Rica. This pristine tropical rain forest gave us a warm and humid welcome while each of us hiked different trails. A great number went to the waterfall, others took the long hike and a few went on the short hike along the shore. Everyone returned making comments about the things they had seen. Crested guans, boat-billed herons, black-throated trogons, howlers monkeys, agoutis, white-nose coatis, red vine snakes, and many others species of neotropics animals said hello to us. What a morning!
Back on the Sea Voyager, we sailed to Punta Galeta for our picnic lunch. A couple of scarlet macaws welcomed us to the picnic. Swimming on the beach and resting under the shade on the hammocks enjoying the afternoon was the best way to spend the rest of the day but we had to return to the ship in order to search for marine wildlife along Drake Bay.
A few devil rays popped out of the sea like popcorn while we passed next to them and as the sun began to say “Good Bye!” with its one second of green flash on the horizon, spotted dolphins began to surf on the waves giving us a beautiful farewell. A spectacular day with a marvelous ending where the comments while the ship headed to Golfo Dulce for our next day of adventure in Costa Rica.
