Manuel Antonio National Park and Refugio Curu
This morning was an early one. In order to admire the rich wildlife that this National Park has we were on shore at 5:30 in the morning Costa Rica time. Along sleepy faces we are amused by the vision of Long Nose bats, white face capuchins, howler monkeys, agoutis, coatis and two and three toed sloths. This was enough to wake up everybody and see wide open eyes searching everywhere for more wildlife.
Birdwatchers also had fun. We spotted Fiery-billed aracaris, Purple crown fairy, Masked tityras, Baltimore orioles, Chestnut backed antbird, Black hooded antbird, Bare throated tiger heron, Orange chinned parakeets and plenty other species. After so much fun, a well deserved breakfasts waits in the ship for us as we sailed among panatropical spotted dolphins towards Refugio Curu.
A wonderful afternoon at Curu and in between the noises of howler monkeys birdwatchers met their expectations as the naturalists on board found the smallest kingfisher in the continent, the American pigmy kingfisher, several trogons as the violaceous and the black head, among scarlet macaws and several other species. Also the non birdwatchers were very excited to see howler monkeys, white face capuchins and several coatimundis. Just another day in paradise!
