Murciélagos Island and Huevos Bay, Costa Rica

There is an old Spanish song that says “En el mar la vida es mas sabrosa…” which can be translated as “ In the sea, life is more enjoyable…”

This northwestern pacific beach area of the Guanacaste Conservation Area (classified as an UNESCO World Heritage Park) provided us with the best greenish, turquoise water and amazing clear observation of different marine creatures in the first snorkeling experience for our families. After a few moments we started to see great smiles from the children telling us about the different colorful fish, eels, and octopus that they were able to find when exploring the rocky formations of this submerged world.

Some others decided to explore the island’s highest point. The moment we started the trail some juvenile Black spiny-tailed Iguanas and Deppe’s whip-tailed lizard showed us the way. After 20 sweaty minutes we reached an altitude of 160 feet from sea level and those who came were greeted with the greatest view.

After lunch, most of the kids participated in a little table game round. From candies to smoothies to coasters, a variety of items were used as tokens for the different bets that went on.

The kayaks were ready, and the attitude was to go out and find as many different possibilities in the mangrove forest. Other families at the same time enjoyed Huevos beach and its blowhole making the deepest sound like an erupting volcano. At the end of the day the sunset provided us with all the wonderful colors possible in nature and a great day came to an end.
