Guanaja, Bay Of Islands, Honduras

During the night we had following seas and the ship was able to make a very good pace and mid morning found us arriving early at Guanaja, our port of entry for Honduras. We took advantage of our early arrival by going ashore to visit the small community for some exploration. We found the town very neat and clean and the people extremely friendly. This was very much a non-tourist community, though the keen shoppers amongst us were able to find one store with interesting T-shirts.

Following lunch we used our Zodiacs to navigate the man made canal that is the short cut to the numerous dive/snorkel sites on the north shore. Those aquatic explorers were rewarded with an excellent site for our underwater viewing. The variety of sponges and corals was stunning and all of the colors of the rainbow were represented. The fish were also quite numerous, with snappers, damselfish, wrasses and angelfish easily and frequently seen. Of special interest was this view of the beautiful queen angelfish, which seemed to pose for views and our delight. After a couple of hours in the warm waters it was time to return to the Sea Voyager for a delightful dinner followed by some salsa dance lessons in the lounge.
