Isla Bona and The Panama Canal

As the sunrise this morning everybody could admire how rich this islands were. Hundreds of frigate birds, pelicans, boobies and other seabirds gather around the ship and the islands taking advantage of the swell in the bay of Panama. During the dry season the Caribbean winds flow through the Republic of Panama, moving away the warm waters and letting the cold currents go up bringing with them most of the fishes. Of course this opportunity is used by all sea birds as well as by us, taking down the zodiacs we tried to get as close as we could to the birds and nests.

After another delightful lunch by our chef, we head towards Panama City, witch is located at the entrance of the Panama Canal. While we cruise down the bay we get to admire again how rich the marine life is in this parts of the Pacific Ocean inpatients to get to what’s consider to be the seventh wonder of the world: The Panama Canal.

Everybody on board is surprise at the size of Panama City, specially all the buildings that have been constructed as a result of the international port and banking area. But the excitement grows as we approach the bridge of Las Americas witch is consider to separate South and Central America. As we go in, the spectations are bigger and when stand with the magnificent Sea Voyager in front of the Miraflores Locks we all know that the moment we have been specting for the last days has arrive. A memorable experience.
