“An Island Named Earth”
Today I awoke with an urge to step out of my usual functions and write this short passage to pay homage to all those people and anonymous, public and private entities that have dedicated their lives to preserving our planet and its species.
As Captain on board the Sea Voyager, I am usually on watch every daybreak, as we approach our next destination, and I am blessed to be a witness to countless unforgettably beautiful sunrises. As a prelude to the most spectacular of these sunrises, I realize that during the day ahead we will all revel in an unparalleled wildlife both at sea and in the forest; there is nothing that moves me more than seeing my guests and crew exclaiming excitedly at the antics of dolphins or the flukes of a diving humpback or even the perfect plunge dive of a brown booby.
When taken over by the pure joy that only nature brings, we sometimes forget that behind the freedom such species enjoy lies the dedication of innumerable people that have given their lives and belongings to the perpetuation of this natural world. I would like to thank you all, as if it were not for you, we would now only be seeing the wonderful flora and fauna of this planet through old television archives. Thank you for having the foresight to protect this little island in a big universe, called Earth. Thank you from all those who have been, who are and who will come. May you all be blessed by Mother Earth.
