We are lucky to have Isabela Island as part of our itinerary aboard National Geographic Gemini. Today we spent our day exploring Bahia Elizabeth on western Isabela. This location happens to be home to many endemic species of the Galapagos Islands, including the charming Galapagos penguin! Included in this distinction are flightless cormorants and thousands of marine iguanas.

In the afternoon, we repositioned the ship to anchor off Punta Moreno and we went snorkeling among sea turtles and thousands of fish, including large schools of black striped salemas. It was an amazing snorkeling outing!

Later, we explored the shore from our Zodiacs, in search of iguanas and flightless cormorants as well as sea lions. We also had the opportunity to explore the vast lava field, home to pioneer cactuses and green ponds, an oasis for flamingos and many other lagoon birds.

What an amazing day!
