Today was an incredible day as today’s photo expedition on board National Geographic Venture put us central to some of the most photogenic space throughout the Sea of Cortez.

In the morning we visited the colorful sandstone rock formations at Punta Colorada on Isla San Jose. Here we did it all—hikes inland, Zodiac cruises off the coast, and snorkeling at the foot of towering sandstone cliffs.

In the afternoon we sailed west toward the Baja Peninsula for a landing at the scenic cove of Puerto Gato, where we were treated to dinner ashore. As the sun sank behind the Sierra de la Giganta, snorkelers snorkeled, hikers hiked, and photographers photographed the warm light on the colorful formations.

After a delicious dinner, a guitar came out for songs around the campfire while photographers hung off in the dark, photographing a lustrous night sky. A great ending to another magical day exploring Baja California.
