In true expedition form, we began our adventure up the King George River with a wet and wild ride across Koolama Bay. Once in the shelter of 1.8-billion-year-old sandstone walls, we dried off in the warm sun as we cruised upstream. We enjoyed observing amazing rock patterns, spotting birds, and even catching sight of a few sea turtles, a batfish, and our first saltwater croc (aka salty) of the trip. We topped off the thrills with a dousing under the gorgeous 40-meter-tall King George Falls…still going strong despite the dry season.
