We woke up early this morning to explore, by Zodiac, an ice sculpture garden created by icebergs getting caught on the terminal moraine of the LaConte Glacier. This is the most southern tidewater glacier of the northern hemisphere. It’s retreating rapidly and because of the constant calving there is an abundance of ice to be seen. After that we returned to the ship to have a bountiful brunch served to us by the wonderful kitchen staff.

In the afternoon we visited the small Norwegian fishing community Petersburg on Mitkof island. While some of us went flightseeing others went to Kupreanof Island to do several nature walks. A third group explored the town by bike or on foot, enjoying dock walks or a photo walk.
