Today was our final day with the gray whales in Magdalena Bay. Despite a stiff morning breeze, we set out in expedition landing craft to search out more of these amazing marine mammals. With the help of our local guides, we found several mother/calf pairs swimming against the strong tidal current.

When it was time to say goodbye to the whales we brought up the anchor and began our journey south through the Hull Canal toward San Jose del Cabo and, eventually, the Sea of Cortez. We saw birds, watched humpback whales blow in the distance, and watched the sunset in hopes of seeing the elusive green flash with the help of naturalist Lee Moll.
