We spent the last day of our visit to the Falkland Islands on New Island, located on the northwestern coast of West Falkland. Today is our last day of landing during this “Epic” journey.

New Island is known for a colony of black-browed albatrosses, rockhopper penguins and imperial shags. We took a short walk from the settlement to the other side of the island, where we observed an amazing show of wildlife during our morning landing! After lunch, a group of intrepid hikers set off on a three-and-a-half mile walk to a beach on the other side of New Island. There, the hikers met up with those of us who remained on the ship to land on the lovely sand beach. Everyone was treated to a wonderful show with gentoo penguins coming and going on feeding trips from the colony to the water’s edge. What a great way to finish our amazing voyage!
