Today we explored two islands in the central realm of Galapagos. In the morning, we went ashore to North Seymour Island, where we had a great time looking at the males of great frigatebirds with their bright red pouches inflated. We also found Galapagos marine and land iguanas along the coast sunbathing, as well as Galapagos sea lions. One surprise sighting for this area was a red-footed booby; normally this species is on islands of the periphery of the archipelago.
After lunch, this afternoon, we went to Rábida Island to snorkel from Zodiacs in deep waters, and from the shore for shallow water snorkeling. One of the highlights this afternoon was to observe a couple of penguins feeding in the same areas as our snorkelers.
In the late afternoon, we went ashore for a relaxing walk along the shore of Rábida and had the opportunity to find Galapagos sea lions, marine iguanas, oyster catchers and blue-footed boobies fishing.
