The diversity of places we have come across during our expedition in the Amazon rain forest is fascinating. Flooded for most of the year, this flat region features an astonishing amount of wildlife, including colorful birds, raptors of all sizes, river dolphins and monkeys everywhere!
In the early morning we left Delfin II behind and, with a cool breeze, we headed into the deep jungle for another adventure. With cameras in our hands we explored and documented the forest and its life forms.
In the morning we took a long skiff ride along Pacaya River. This backwater river is dotted with birds such as egrets, jacanas, horned screamers and parrots. Aside from the amount of wildlife, the landscape itself is breathtaking. This reserve is a vast flooded forest. The dark brown water served as a giant mirror for the trees and the clouds.
Before we reached the black water lagoon, it rained. The heavy tropical rain provided a break in our long journey. We stopped the skiffs and jumped into this mysterious pond for our Amazon Plunge! Warm and enjoyable, the water looked like tea due to the pigments of dry vegetation. Floating in this giant teapot with pink dolphins around us, we enjoyed beers and celebrated our great adventure.
It was a beautiful day full of surprises in the heart of the jungle!
